3 days in Marrakech
Souks, riads and the Atlas Mountains on the horizon. A 3-day plan.
Marrakech is a sensory city: spice stalls and leather tanneries, calls to prayer, and quiet riads hidden behind plain doors in the medina.
Day by day
Day 1: The medina
See the Koutoubia, Bahia Palace and Saadian Tombs, then experience Jemaa el-Fnaa after dark.
Day 2: Gardens, souks and hammam
Visit Jardin Majorelle early, then Ben Youssef Madrasa and the souks. Unwind in a hammam and dine on a rooftop.
Day 3: The Atlas Mountains
Take a day trip to Imlil and the High Atlas villages.
Make it work
- Best months: Mar–May, Oct–Nov. See the season calendar.
- Book ahead: the most popular sights and restaurants, especially in peak season.
- Where to eat along the way: Jemaa el-Fnaa food stalls, Nomad, Le Jardin.
- Getting around: The medina is best on foot, though navigation is tricky; download offline maps.
Short on time, or staying longer?
With less time, keep the first days and skip the day trip. With more, add a slower day for a neighbourhood from our best areas to stay, or choose more from the full list of things to do.
Opening days and times change, and some sights close one day a week. Check before you go. Last reviewed October 2026.
